What is teeth whitening?
No matter your dental hygiene practices, staining and discoloration naturally occur over time — get your smile back with help from our team. Opalescence Boost is a teeth-whitening gel applied right in our office to give you a brighter smile quickly, safely, and effectively! No hot or uncomfortable LED teeth whitening lights are necessary as it is chemically activated. Opalescence begins to work as soon as it is placed on the teeth, meaning you’ll have a brighter smile with only two or three 20-minute treatments in a row, with noticeable whitening results in about an hour!
How to whiten teeth
There are many different methods on the market to go about whitening teeth beyond practicing regular dental hygiene. These may include:
- DIY teeth whitening
- Teeth whitening kits
- Natural teeth whitening methods
- Teeth whitening strips
However, these are not the most effective or safe teeth whitening methods. The best teeth whitening method is to go with a dental professional who knows what they are doing, like the team at Barbieri Orthodontics.
What to expect from Opalescence teeth whitening
Before visiting Barbieri Orthodontics for whitening, we recommend seeing your primary dentist for a regular checkup. Your dentist will discuss your teeth and gum health and determine whether a whitening treatment is best for you. This routine checkup will also eliminate plaque and surface stains, creating a smooth surface and making your treatment more effective.
After visiting your dentist, you can schedule an appointment with us. You’ll come to our office and share some medical history, like existing health conditions or tooth implants. Then, we can begin treatment.
First, we will determine your beginning tooth shade and place a lip and cheek retractor to keep your tongue and lips clear of the whitening gel. Then, we will place a protective barrier around your gumline to prevent the gel from irritating your gums.
Once your gums, lips, and tongue are protected, we will use a gentle, brushed tip to apply the gel to your teeth. The gel will remain on your teeth for 20 minutes before being suctioned off.
Once suctioned off, we will evaluate your teeth’s shade change and determine if you need another application. We can apply the gel up to three times within one treatment session.
Following the final application and removal of the gel, the protective barrier and retractor will easily come off, and you will notice a brighter smile!
